MAY 19 – 24, 2020

Who’s ready for an African yoga-safari adventure?

Join me for six nights (five nights in the bush) at the award-winning Sausage Tree Camp, on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River in Zambia.

We fly to the capital Lusaka and spend one night in the gorgeous boutique hotel, Latitude. The following morning we take a chartered flight into the Lower Zambezi National Park and our home for the next five days, Sausage Tree. This luxury safari camp, awarded Best Location in Africa at the 2016 Good Safari Guide Awards in 2016, blends luxury and comfort with the opportunity to experience one of the last remaining wilderness areas of pristine African bush, up close.

The idea behind Sausage Tree is to bring you really close to nature and let you feel and hear her breathe. It’s hard to describe the extraordinary pleasure of drifting off to sleep, under crisp linen, to the sound of hippos grunting nearby, but it’s something which will stay with you forever. Rooms are beautifully appointed luxury ‘tents’ set amidst mahoganies and kigelia (sausage trees) which flank the river. Bathrooms are open to the heavens as is the dining area on the main viewing deck where we share our meals, including that particularly African ritual of ‘afternoon tea’ which is really another meal. A butler, sounds very grand, is there to look after your needs, but he is also there to guide you between your room and the main area.

Our daily schedule includes morning and afternoon yoga sessions (Ashtanga Yoga Mysore-style in the morning/ gentle yoga/meditation in the afternoons) on the deck overlooking the river, and twice-daily guided safaris. What makes Sausage Tree unique among safari camps is being able to experience the bush on foot, on a vehicle, or by boat where we encounter lion, elephant, buffalo, hippo and antelope in their natural habitat, tranquil and undisturbed, at very close range. Every day brings new adventures but at all times we’re in the safe and extremely capable hands of the camp’s guides whose love and knowledge of their environment will astound you.

For the group of students who visited this spot in 2016 it was a trip of a lifetime. Even those who had previously been on safari were blown away by the accommodation, world-class service and extraordinary interaction with the bush and wild life. So, I’m thrilled to be able to do this trip again. Spaces are limited to 10 people maximum and we require a 50% deposit by November 30 to secure your place.
